Tapatalk Conversion; What's Happened and What's Next

Twilight is upon me, and soon night must fall.

 Since tapatalk and Brandon have opted to use email and not to contact Board Owners through their boards, the Volunteer Staff on this board have been doing our best to spread the news of this forced and unwanted downgrade to as many board owners and their members as possible. Unfortunately, the great many of you have either changed emails or the email understandably went to spam.

So now, it's time to talk about what's happened:

Zathyus Networks was sold to tapatalk last year. At the time, we were told ZetaBoards would continue. On April 19th, Brandon informed all volunteer staff of the impending transfer of all ZetaBoards communities to tapatalk.

The volunteer staff attempted to advocate for more time and to make sure core features were included. While this message was received, it is clear that tapatalk has chosen to convert all boards full steam ahead. Despite testing and backlash to that testing, the same issues persist. Chief among these issues would be themes. As you have seen if converted, your themes are gone. While you are supposed to have access to CSS, that is not the case for all. Some are seeing a paywall. This is something you will need to inform tapatalk of. Additionally, since tapatalk lacks many of the features that ZetaBoards contains, some features are just gone such as blog and shoutbox.

So what are your options? You can't download your database. That is not an option they offer. You can't pay for it either. If you truly hate tapatalk as much as some of us do, your only option when converted is to start over. If you are looking for hosts, my signature contains several. Personally, I went with Jcink.

As the tone of this post indicates, we volunteer staff do not support the way this decision was made or how it was implemented. We will continue to advocate for you as long as we can but we will not be following over to tapatalk. We appreciate your patronage for all of these years and truly wish things had ended better. All of us deserved better then this downgrade.
