I'm a singer in a progressive metal band. Far from professional, and I'm not really aiming for being the stereotype prog singer. I'm kinda trying to develop my own style in melodies and rhythms (being a clone sucks), and have made good progress in that as well as the technical aspects of singing over the past years. Or that's what I like to think An influence would be Maynard James Keenan, the singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle, for his distinctive style. A song that I really like to sing is a recent song by our own band. It starts with a heavy, very rhythmical riff in 7/4, and I sing a somewhat oriental melody on top of that, mainly in 4/4. About ten years ago, we used to play death metal. I did vocals then too.
