 my system keeps adding links in my start menu and on my desktop for free xxx, and this is obviously spyware

my internet also keeps changing its home page, and even when i change it back, it does it again

i have hijackthis, cyberscrub, and mcaffee, and it cannot determine the exact source

i found it in c:\ next to my folder " windows "

the name of that file is 124842

i delete that and give it a while and after about a hour and a half it does it again.


anybody had this happen to them?
does anyone know where the source is?
will my registery keys be infected as well?

 Use Ad-Aware & Spy-Bot and possible even CWShredder just incase you have the coolweb search worm as this is the only program that will get rid of it that I know of.

1 in 10 people understands binary, the other 1 doesn't

 make a log file in hijackthis and pm it to me, i will look into it for you. also make sure the file ca\nnot access the internet at all (set firewall to high)

have u downloaded anything recently?

 i downloaded a few thing, but i scanned em with 4 of my scanners, and they are clean
