 Did anyone watch the movie the Merchant of Venice?

Someone just told me they thought it was terrible, But i disagree.

Granted, it doesn't compare to the play, but hey, You try and write a screenplay of one of the greatest masterpeices ever written.

Although it didn't compare, I thought Al Pacino was outstanding as Shylock.

So, Anyone watch it and have any opinions on it?

 I haven't seen the movie, but I really liked the play. We had to read it in class, and I think I was the only one hwo acually liked it. O.o

I loved how Portia turned the contract against Shylock, very clever.

 Yeah. Pacino reeeally makes you feel sorry for Shylock though. And he puts so much passion in to the whole "If you prick us...Do we not bleed?" scene.
