Hi :)

I am totally new here and have had my board up for 5 days! So far I think it is doing quiet well - How do I find out how many 'hits' it has had? Also in 942 posts in that time a good thing? Like I say - I have no idea!

The other thing I am concerned about is peoples forums being deleted for breech of terms and conditions. I have designed my logo myself, taken buttons of a freebee site and think I have done most things I should have. What about pictures in the url? To show pictures of art or something in a post to discuss? Is this against the rules? I am getting paranoid... :)

Thank you

Hi. I think 942 in that time is good unless it's spam. I'm not going to comment on the TOS thing for fear of being banned for backseat moderating.

haha

That is not the sort of thing that will get you in trouble, as it is not backseat moderating.

As long as you are not claiming the pictures as your own, or modifying them without the copyright owners consent, you should be fine. However, if you can clarify what you mean (ie what you actually do with other people's images) then we can help make sure that you are doing nothing that violates the TOS.

If you mean using BBcode or HTML to display images from somebody else's website in a post, then yes, it would violate the rules against hotlinking without permission, unless they've given permission, of course, but that would be rare.
You can always just give the link to the image though, instead of posting the image itself, and then you wouldn't have to worry about hotlinking issues.

If the images are on your own website or image host, and you're not violating copyright by posting them, then you have nothing to worry about.
(Well, as long as the image content itself is within the TOS, ie: no nudity, etc.)

Thank you for your help.

Wow - Now have 1,037 posts. None of them spam.. but then they are all people that I know! Does that still count as good? :D Or just that we spend too much time online?

Thanks for the info Phrank. Thought it better that I check - I am enjoying making this board and seeing it all come together. It's all new to me but the team here have been very supportive. Boards are great and have loads of excellent features! Thanks..:)
