Well, i saw the topic about capital punishment, and decided i'd make a discussion topic about the death penalty, and your oponion on it. Personally, I think it should be enforced all over the US and Canada, but mabey only given out for more sever cases. I belive this because i really think that some perople would refrain from killing with it in place. I think there should be some excptions than thier is now, like people with a mental illness, that couldn't have done otherwise shouldn't get it. |

um, the internet isn't the most reliable resource. With DNA, you almost never get the wrong guy now adays. |

I used the internet as a reference tool b/c I don't know you mail to send you the books I've read. But if you want you can also rent the movie "In the name of the Father" ..about a guy who was convicted..if England held the DP at that time they would have killed him. By the way do you know what's the diff between capital and death penalty? |

I belive capital is life no parole, and death, is death. Well, I think death penalty in serial killers. |

nope not all cuz this one guy went to jail but he didnt kill anyone and i think 10 years later they tested the dna because they decided not to because they tought they were possitive that he was the killer so i went to jail then they found out he was guilty and he got out of jail and recived like 3 mill because he was in there for like 10 or 20 years but if that was in usa they woulda killed him so thats why i say no but they both have there reason's that are good and bad |

"Kill a killer and you're scum like him." That's my motto.  I've yet to actually see the Death Penalty do any good towards society. Has it stopped killing? No. Does it scare people from killing? No. Does it justify the original murder? No. Does it bring back the deceased? No. Does it make the family/ies feel any better? No. Does it stop all the heart ache, pain and suffering caused by the killer? No. So I have to ask what good it does do? None from what I see. Big deal, so you bump off a murderer who would have spent life in jail anyway, suffering and being miserable and instead granted him a quick and easy way out. If I commited a murder and was sentenced to death, I'd probably laugh before I was executed because I'd die with the satisfaction that I'd brought great missery and pain and didn't even suffer for it while the victim's family has to suffer for the rest of their lives. Win for me! :/ Hardly seems like an ideal solution does it? Murder, murder, murder, quick escape. Murderer 1, everyone else 0 >_< I'm quite glad we scrapped the death penalty over here, it's inhumane and barbaric. How can anyone say with pride "my country kills people in the name of justice :w00t:"? |

No, No death pentalty. I realize locking up a prisioner for life costs taxpayers money and the risk of prisioners breaking out (a dead guy can't break out, let alone move, or live, etc. :unsure:) but its...wrong. And besides, locking someone in a cell for years or for life is more torturing then a quick painless death.

i think someone did somt math on the whole send someone to death or life in prison, and i think life in prison was cheaper than the death penalty |

Depends what the crime is. If its a single murder, then no. If you kill multiple people, then you deserve to die. When people (Logik) say that being in prison for life is worse than dying, Thats not true. Prisons are a lot more comfortable to be in than they used to be. |
