Homework is awesome and you know it. More of the calculations homework though, for me ( from math or chemistry). Just essay work is the worst. The key is, just finish it all in class if you get the chance. Work to the bell. Be the nerd you should be. Smart = Cool

I pretty much never did homework, except what little I found enjoyable. Just payed attention and read all my books and whatnot, and aced all the tests, including my SATs and college placement tests. Most homework is just busywork, or stuff you should have been doing in class instead of goofing off or whatever. Unless it's something like a long essay or research work, where the comfort of your own room or whatever would really help, I think schoolwork should stay in school. Once you set foot outside the school, or your place of employment for that matter, you're on your own time and people shouldn't be expecting you to spend it doing something they want you to do. If the teachers can't teach you in class, something is wrong. That said, they should also be instilling some sort of desire for learning in you, so that you take some initiative and actually want to spend some of your time out of school doing something other than playing. And one thing I did find when I got to college, was that I was suddenly overloaded with rediculous amounts of homework, on the order of 6 hours per night fairly often, and I didn't have the.. determination.. that's not the word I'm looking for.. the proper study ethic.. or whatever, to force myself to sit there and get it done, when there were so many distractions like girls and partying and ski trips and whatever else. So, I guess I would just say that while I think homework sucks, and you really shouldn't be expected to do it, and generally don't really have to as long as you learn what it's supposed to be teaching you, doing it at least now and then, when you really want to be doing something else, also teaches you a valuable skill. |
