the mouse gestures are used for different things. For instance, rather than clicking the Forwards or Backwards button to navigate between previously visited pages, you can just click and drag the mouse left or right depending on which way you want to go. It may sound a bit strange, but if your mouse is at the bottom of the screen, it is just that tiny bit less effort
