The developer is thinking about throwing in the towel. Of course a new developer will most likely take his place, but this is really gonna slow the production of the browser down.

Wow.
Don't read the blog unless you have a high tolerance for geekspeak.
My head hurts. :/

But, in all honesty, does it matter if 2.0 comes in 2006 or not?

I saw his blog post before the Inquirer monkeys picked up on it. He's not leaving, just frustrated.

@phrank's comment ^^^that's what i was wondering!

lol i just DLed FireFox and its great.... I dont even see why i need a V2 anytime soon.... even if V2 never came out i'll be happy with my FFox.

It sounds like some keener geek that's annoying people on the team... no wonder they cut him out of the loop... 2006 is 8 months away..i dont remember IE updating since..... ...ever!

IE, not updating? <O>.<o> Last I checked IE was on Version 6, with more patches then I can count on my hands. And I can count up to 1023 on my hands. Not to mention 7 that is being advertised on their site. Edit: And IE still is horrible. Firefox is what I reccomend to all my customers, even if there isn't a 2, its still a great browser.

IE 5.5 was the current version installed on Windows 98 Second Edition around six years ago.

amen to that!
I think firefox works like a charm, so I wouldn't consider a delay of version 2 as a major setback in anyway *cuddles firefox* :wub:

Quantum-locked when observed.

Yeah, let them develop as slowly as they want. Good things take time, I don't mind still waiting for Firefox 2.0 in 2006.

As for an extensive community of hackers not being built up . . . what about all those wonderful extensions I love so much? I think that Firefox has a lot of strong user support.
