Oh, yes...Gotta be official. This is the thread to discuss the new features that Duffman will soon be adding. Just because I'm Staff, and I think I'm special (and to support my ever-growing head), I'll be posting some pros and cons to each feature he plans to add, and is thinking about adding. B) By the way, if you haven't seen the thread yet, you can view it by clicking here.  Improved Avatar System (Rating: 4/5) The Improved Avatar System will be a good addition to Invisionfree. The only thing that will bother me is how fast it will eat up the 8 MB of space that IF Boards are allotted? Will Duffman be giving the Boards more space, or will the avatar sizes be limited? Multiple Choice Polls (Rating: 3/5) This seems to be a worthwhile feature, and could prove to have some use. I don't know if I'll ever use it, but I'm sure the rest of you will. Limited Time Polls (Rating: 3/5) Now, I know I'll use this. This feature will definately benefit forums, Invisionfree-wide. The only con I can think of is if someone gets grounded or something, and doesn't get to vote.  Restore Skinning Defaults (Rating: 5/5) I know...We all make mistakes. It's easy to screw up, when writing a skin, or a new wrapper for your boards. It'll be great when you can just fix a mistake with a single click. Upload Macro (Rating: 1/5) This doesn't seem like a good idea for Invisionfree. Why waste IF's space, when you can easily remote-link from an image host? InvisionFree can use that space for more useful things. Improved File Manager (Rating: 5/5) Attachments get old. We want to free up some of that space, because it's limited. 8 MB is a decent amount of space, if you think about it. Has anyone ever used it all? I know I didn't even come close. It'll be great when you can get rid of those old attachments. Secured Admin Accounts (Rating: 5/5) Hackers...Gotta hate 'em. They get on my nerves, because I know how it feels to have a successful board get hacked. Ask anyone at Games Unlimited to tell you the story of r4Ven... Gender (Rating: 3/5) Generic feature. Not necessarily useful, and not necessarily useless... Countries/Flags (Rating: 3/5) Generic feature. Not necessarily useful, and not necessarily useless... Hide BBCode (Rating: 4/5) Ever wanted to hide something from a Guest? This is the best way to do it, right here... Don't show BBCode buttons (Rating: 5/5) Anything that takes up excess browser space, should be removed. This is a good plan. Easy Moderator Editing/Removal (Rating: 5/5) Anything that could make Moderating easier, is definately a plus. I really think that some people need lessons in Moderating, but this is a good way to get them started. Max Username Length (Rating: 4/5) Whew...Ever had some member register at your board with this annoyingly long username? I have...It's so bothersome, that I'd go into the Admin CP and change it. This prevents that from ever happening. Choose default skin (Rating: 4/5) Good improvement for skinning. ...Not much else I can say about that one. Extra items on registration (Rating: 5/5) Definately a step up. The more things you can get from a user, on Registration, the easier it is to tell the kind of user you're dealing with, and when they'll be online, etc. Lower user's postcount if their indvidual post is deleted (Rating: 4/5) Yeah...Wouldn't benefit Games Unlimited. We don't delete things, at all...We just edit them out, or Archive them. Better attachment system (Rating: 3/5) Just get a FTP server, and link to it...As easy as Attachments are, it eats up needed space/bandwidth. Find all posts by the member (Rating: 4/5) I presume this a feature used to save on Database Queries, and increase speed of member's post searches? Dots marking topics you have posted in (Rating: 4/5) Yes...I forget where I've posted...This is definately a helpful hand in remembering where you've posted, lately. After post perform multi-mod (Rating: 5/5) Adding Multi-Moderation Functions to the 'After Post' Moderation Options drop-down menu? Excellent! Option to give a group/posting level zero pips (Rating: 3/5) Generic feature. Not necessarily useful, and not necessarily useless... More specific mod logs (Rating: 5/5) The more specific, the better. I would really like to know what all my Moderators are doing. Color key for online lists (Rating: 3/5) Generic feature. Not necessarily useful, and not necessarily useless... Advanced Groups (Rating: 4/5) I guess this would benefit some people? *Magus shrugs. Multiple Custom Skins (Rating: 5/5) Probably the best addition to the Skinning System to come. Could we have multiple Board Wrappers, to go with each skin? Removal of all Redirects after actions (Rating: 5/5) I feel the need...The need...for speed. Guided Settings (Rating: 5/5) Whoohoo!! No more stupid mistakes, for me!!  Portal IPDynamic Lite (Rating: 3/5) GU Portal v2.0 Final (Rating: 4/5) Portals, portals, everywhere...Which one will YOU pick? CMS (Rating: 5/5) Please don't make it Post-Nuke-ish!! After posting... (Rating: 4/5) Can you say vBulletin, Invision Power Board Style? Duffman is adding all of the features that I love about vB...I may turn into a big IF Junkie, or something... Dropdown skin selector (Rating: 4/5) Placement is key. Don't make it intrusive. Ask for suggestions on where to put it, please. Easier CSS editor (Rating: 5/5) No more fugly boards...I hope. Easier CSS hopefully means great-looking Boards, even for people that don't have a good knowledge of CSS! Copy Topic (Rating: 4/5) Finally! I can create my Carbon Copy Forum! Bump Topic (Rating: 5/5) No more annoying '*BUMP*' posts... Enable Forum View (Rating: 4/5) Can you say 'Tease the Guests?' Enable Searching of Forum (Rating: 5/5) No more staff topics appearing in Member searches. (Yes, this does happen.) PM Admin when a new member registers (Rating: 4/5) Doesn't make a difference. I'll still get an E-Mail either way. Double Validation Option (Rating: 3/5) Doesn't effect me. No comment. Superscript and Subscript BBCode (Rating: 4/5) No more [doHTML] for Superscript and Subscript text. Visible warning level but the reason is not visible (Rating: 4/5) Can this be optional? I may not want other people to see other people's warning level. Birthday Icon (Rating: 4/5) Can you stick an icon in that particular member's profile, as well? That would be pretty cool. Enhanced IP Ban (Rating: 5/5) Get rid of those annoying little spammers easier... Attach Icon (Rating: 4/5) That's a good way to keep track of the where the attachments are. That way you don't lose track of anything. Flaws Disregarded Minimum characters in post to have the poster's postcount increase (Rating: 6/5) No more five word rule. I'll just require 30 characters per post, before it's considered a 'valid' post. Clickable links to quickly do mod queue for a forum (Rating: 4/5) Mod CP Updates are good. Especially for people who already have problems with the current setup. Colored 'who posted' (Rating: 3/5) Generic feature. Not necessarily useful, and not necessarily useless... Edit queued post (Rating: 4/5) This is a good way to keep from just deleting all the Queued posts. Good call, Duffman. Totals for queues (Rating: 5/5) We NEED this feature. Excellent! Why didn't I think of this, myself? Poll Stats section (Rating: N/A) Elaborate...What exactly does this do? Mark a user posting (Rating: 3/5) Generic feature. Not necessarily useful, and not necessarily useless... Maybes Currently Disregarded...May be commented on, later. I won't update for Completed yet unadded features. Added - Feature has been added by Duffman. |

YAY!!!!!!!! And about the macro, I will love it, especially with the GDK, it will save A LOT! of time  And I'm looking foward to the multiple custom skins as well Please allow custom board wrappers for each, so the IF SZ Skinning Team can have the correct copyright displayed on the skins they make

Well, how's that gonna stop people from uploading images as attachments and linking to them that way. I mean it's still the same 8MB, just different uploading pages
Absolutely perfect idea. Kinda like Ron Popil's "set it and forget it" thing. |

yup! i'm looking forward to a lot of these new features!!! Max Username Length will help a lot because I have members who use a lot of "~*~*~*~" to decorate their names. Extra items on registration is a really good one too! |

I missed this one. What I want is to be able to set a pm in my cp that is sent to members as they register. I too get email notification so this isn't that needed. |
