When you send a PM or an email, or subscribe to a topic a screen comes up saying to please wait. There is a then a link at the bottom that says "Click here if you do not wish to wait." What's the point of it? If you click it, wouldn't it be longer? :/ :eh:

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. It had to do with IF but I didn't think it's support. If it's in the wrong forum, please move it.

It's there in case it doesn't redirect you. Sometimes the javascript(?) redirection might not work, in browser that have javascript disabled(?) for example.

(I think it's a javascript redirect?)

Also if your'e bored of waiting like me, or just want to click it for the fun of it :w00t:

It's a normal <meta> refresh implemented with php.

But the question remains:

Why can't it just send you to the other page, instead of the redirect one?

The redirects usually come right after some sort of form is submitted. Not all forms (post forms are the notable exception for obvious reasons), but a large majority. This is to ensure that some actions do not occur twice, especially when someone pushes on the back button in their browser.
