Overview of Forum types:

RPG-Takes a LOT of work, extremely satisfying, entertaining.

Graphics Stuff-Lots of work, also satisfying.

Advertising-Very Easy, boring though. :P

Video Games-Not boring or hard, very popular topic

General-I'd advise not doing this. There are literally thousands of these out there, and well...they're all pretty much the same, to be honest. :(

Serious Issues (Polotics, Religion, etc.)-Satisfying, but make sure you know what you are talking about.

Specific Hobby-Smaller Community, so you won't be looking at a top 10 board usually, but easy and fun.

Teen Issues- :X

Try to find a hole in the system. Originality is the key to being successful. Give your memberas a reason to join YOUR forum above thetons of others.

Hope that helps :ermm: ...

Picking a topic that *you* like works a lot better in my opinion...

What ever weird/twisted/nerdy interest you have, believe me there will be other people on the internet who share that interest. You just have to find them and eventually lure some of them into your board ;) Good content is the key, not immitation and running after what you *think* people will like. ;)

I agree with desdemona. It would be much better for the future of your forum if you picked something that you like and that you know a lot about.
