Dunnno if this should be here, sorry if it is in the wrong place.. Read the newspaper today.. One of the columnist was talking aout how she attended a talk by a government official (Forgot his name) and a question about inter racial relationships came up. This dude, a university student, said that it made his skin crawl to see people of different races holding hands and being in love. He said that by being in an inter racial relationship, we are losing our cultures and identity. Well, excuse me Mr Im-So-Culturally-Pure, Is it in your culture to talk bad about others, even to the point of racism? Here we are, trying to make the world a better, more tolerant place for everyone, and you say it makes your skin crawl? Don't hop into a cab or bus, if the person driving it is a different colour. Don't go to the convenience store if the shopkeeper is a different colour. Don't go to FREAKIN' university if the one who teaches you is a different colour.. Damn racist pig.. |

The funny thing about cultures is that, as they are destroyed others are born. I couldn't care less about some traditions from my culture. The country would be a better place whenever all the cultures finally fuse into one new culture. (hopefully) |

Im culturally incorrect.  I don't care what colour people are, where they come from, what they can or cannot eat or any other taboo for that matter. Treat me as a human being and i will treat you the same. By saying that people should not be involved in inter racial relations is like saying one group of people has a higher standing than the others. Does he think that "diluted" people are of a lower class than those "pure" people? I shudder at what he thinks of other people.. FYi, I am in an inter racial relationship and we have been going strong for three years now. I know how it feels like to have people talking behind your back and saying how im not suited for her and how she is not suited for me. Im just surprised (and ticked off) that a university student can have such a narrow view of the world. </rant> Edit: Feel free to correct me, if i have said anything wrong.. |
