I'm a freshman in high school and I know it's a bit early but I want to secure my future. I was wondering what are some of the best/good science colleges in the U.S. I love science so much I decided to go into a field of science but I am not quite sure which one. So please if anyone knows of and good science colleges please help me decide by posting them here. Thanx for your help.

Well, I can't tell you of any particular schools off the top of my head, but I'd suggest that you take a look around The Princeton Review as it has a very good listing of schools offering different majors/minors and it also lists statistics on each school such as cost, funding averages, and a bunch of other stats. :)

I'm totally biased, I believe that Ohio State os the best, ever. That's why I came here. :w00t:

^_^

I can't really advise you on which college is the "best", that's something that depends on you. It depends on what kind of environment you want to be in. Ad far as majors go, math/science seems to be where it's at. :)

I am a freshman in high school also.

I am very interested in mathematics & science.

This year, I am in Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus, as well as some Pre Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) biology & chemistry classes.

I am looking @ a field in neurosurgery & I am looking @ the following colleges:

Rice University
Johns Hopkins University
Brown Unversity (Ivy League Medical school)
Princeton University
MIT (believe it or not, they have an excellent cognitive science department)
Cornell University
University of California, Berkeley

Remember,

you need a good GPA, high SAT scores, high SAT2 scores, good extracurriculars, as well as awards, recognitions, & teacher recommendations.

I attend the University of Oklahoma, which is known for its excellent meterology and journalism schools (and dance, too :P).

Awesome Joe, looks like we both have similar career paths. I plan on being an Astronomer myself, and I hope to attend Duke University in North Carolina, or maybe better (Harvard or Yale  ) You might be interested to know I am still in the 8th grade...is it weird to be thinking about colleges and career paths so early? I don't think it is.

How old are you?

I just turned 14, but I'm a freshman because I skipped a grade.

I planned what college I wanted to go to, planned all 4 years of high school classes, took advanced courses etc. Even went and shadowed a marine biologist because I was so sure that's what I wanted to do. Now 5 years later I'm an anthropology major, at a university I had no intention of going to till my senior year :P No harm in planning ahead, but don't let it keep you from trying new things :)

Don't worry I started planning this since I was in the 5th or 6th grade. :D Did you know that last year astronomers/astrophysicts made over $83,000. Cool huh?
