If you look at the particular Report Abuse/TOS Violation for Abusive/Threatening/Libel:

http://invisionfree.com/report.php?p=1&typ=8

That should explain our stance on the situation. Your best bet it to try and get in contact with the forum owner, and make it clear that you are not the same person. How you can satisfactorily do this is a slightly different matter. You could possibly show them that you both use different IP address's maybe, but it is your call.

I thought it was inpossible because i thought the IP address, was to locate where you live. If you joined a board, and than change your IP address dose the IP address from where you joined the board change too?

That happened to us--the other way around. A member has caused loads of trouble in our board (insulting fellow members, and discrimination about religion), and we decided that she should be deleted.

Now she registered using a different username, though we allowed her into our boards, all her posts are now being moderated, just to make sure that the same thing won't happen again. :)

Then, in your early posts your old IP will be shown, and in the ones after the IP change, your new IP will be shown.

Most dial ups change the IP of a user everytime they connect. Yes, the IP does have a way to locate the area where you live, but not exact. Sometimes not even close. One of the IPs I have shows up as in California.

AOL is the most common to change their IPs on users due to the number of people that still use them. Most of the time if a user has the same IP as someone else it is either cause both of them use AOL, or they are using the same computer.

Broadband ISPs generally don't change too often, but do occisaonaly unless you buy a static IP.

As I have noticed with invisionfree, the IP that is shown in the ACP for users is the IP the user had when they registered. Though their current IP may be different.

Hasn't anybody here heard of a proxy? I guess it's kind of a good thing for Administrators, if everybody knew about them, a banning would just mean getting a proxy and registering again.

If you have cable and need to change your IP, just unplugg the modem for 68 sec and plug it back in.

But the IP ban still works for IF, even if you change your IP, it still has the same root (I think)

If you ban a person's IP, they can change it and come back to your forum. This could go on forever until you ban everybody's IP. But then, nobody can visit your forum.
