For long time forum admins, I suppose problems are expected. I'm new to this game and I'm stunned by what's going on right now. We had a member make a rantish post, singling out other members for her own unique brand of justice. I PMed her and told her that wasn't acceptable, contact a mod, tone it done, etc. Unfortunately this member can't be moderated and turned what should have been a simple situation into a big mess involving other members, etc. The end result is that this member was banned. She ran off and started her own forum. Several of my members joined her forum as well. I honestly didn't see this as a problem. People can visit more than one forum--I know I do---folks are just looking for places to talk. I underestimated her pettiness. Rather than move on, she takes every opportunity to stir up trouble. She posted all of our PMs in her forum for her members to view, updated her sig in our forum with a link to it (fixed that now!), rejoined our forum under another name to pick a fight in one of the RP threads (banned her IP.) Now she's badmouthing us in her forum, calling us "Nazis" among other things. She hides her board unless there's something she wants us to see that she think will upset us. I know, we're taking some of this waaaay too personally, but it IS personal. I'm at a real loss. How does one deal with this? CAN you deal with it? Our current position has just been to ignore it, take the high road and not sink to her level. Since we share some members though, I feel that they may be getting confused or worse, believe her BS. I just can't stand this jr. high behavior. Can someone whose dealt with something similar guide me? Thanks for any help you can provide. |

You could report her board for privacy violation and/or abuse, I suppose. Though it might be better to just ignore her and moderate as needed. :/ People with that mentality usually get bored soon enough, but might keep at it if you get their forum shut down, you know? |

As an ex-admin of a large site that that happened on a regular basis I can say that the best way to deal with it is to make sure your members and prespective members feel like they can talk to the staff and ask qeustions. That way they can get both sides of it. Many times users that are banned feel they have been banned unjustly even if they have broken rules and want to make a hard time for the board they were banned from, there is no real way to stop it except to explain to them calmly why they were banned, and do not let is escalate. They are trying to get a rise out of the staff to make you look bad. |

Well, you could put in a php code so that if the refferer to her site is your forum, then it will send you back. That way, nobody could get to her site from your forum. |

Although I tend to agree with PhranK, perhaps you might deal with the problem better if you just talk with her :$ Sounds like she is vent up about something maybe let her explain it. Good luck anyway.

Inter-Forum War = childish Moderate your board as needed there isnt really all that much you can do if anotyher board is badmouthing yours. Obviously she is angry at you and she has others angry at you as well but youl; find those people arent as angry as you might think if yours is the better site they will come back and she will be alone. All you have to do is worry about your own site and let her rant. If she turned on you most certainly she will turn on the people who went with her. |
