Every news station is subjet to the exact thing you said in that post, it is all propaganda, and that is true, with it all propaganda it is all half truth, and so each station has thier own way of giving out information, each station is subjet to the public in veiwing, and each station has a right to be judged by the public how the public chooses, i am glad to hear your opinion, and i do agree with some of it, but the news channels all get thier information from one place, the Acossiated Press, and so all of the news organizations have relatively the same acsess to the same information, the only TV news channel that really tells you the truth is BBC, they are not an american run organization, and so they are not subject to such governmental control at saiid ib your post, so in america the best way to do things via TV would be BBC world news, even by your standards  we do havea big problem, but when i am on the internet i go to the acossiated press website to get news, bang they are instant in getting news, and precise in the reporting...Asocciated Press Official Web Site: http://www.ap.org/ Asocciated Press Television News: http://www.aptn.com/ |

Personally, i've pretty much stopped reading news stories. The only thing I do now is read headlines from google news. Headlines are straight to the point and let me know what happened instantly. And if I do read a story, i'll only read offical statements and facts, nothing else. |

the Asocciated Press is all facts, they are the top news agancy, every news company CNN MSNBC FNC all have reportes that work for the news channels, but all those news channel's reporters work for the asocciated press... |

I watch local news, when something big happens i usually put it on MSNBC or The Fox News Channel |

It's by design, I'm sure.  Most Americans are too lazy to make an effort, so they'll sit down in front of their TV and believe whatever's spewed at them. We have a cute little game going on where the corporate media tries to pretend it's multifaceted, with the supposedly neutral (or at least supposedly not right-wing) stuff supposedly trying to balance out the supposedly left-wing "mainstream" media.. when anyone who's actually even remotely informed, especially those outside the US, knows that's not what's going on at all. So, the more they can make it difficult to get outside and legitimately objective news, the better, as far as they're concerned, since they know Americans are like sheep. We do get a little something or other from BBC every once in awhile on Public TV or wherever, but it's not much. I don't really buy the thing about the AP either. It might not be as bad as getting your news filtered through FNC, but it's still too homogenized, and they ignore too much. The fact that all major newspapers and TV stations get most of their info from the AP is truly disturbing, if you ask me. |

I coulda sworn that BBC is a state owned channel. Damn, clicked Add reply before finishing my post. >_< Did a little searching and, apparently, although it's owned by the government, it is the only BBC channel to have advertising since Margaret Thatcher didn't believe such a worldwide channel should have government financial aid to persist. As for my news, mainly portuguese channels, Sky News and BBC world until recently when my cable TV provider did some rewiring of the channel list and 'lost' BBC World somewhere. <_< CNN is good sometimes but when you see international news channels often and then turn to CNN you sometimes get the feeling it is a very narrow minded channel. Everything centers around America or so it seems on that channel. I get CBS nightly news on Sky News and, well, it's just pathetic. Very rarely you see international news on there unless it's about Iraq. NBC Nightly News shows on MSNBC and it's the same thing. No wonder you see flicks on Jay Leno in which some people don't even know where Canada or Mexico are. I do get people telling me Portugal is in South America. :w00t:  >_<  Edit: corrected paragraph 3 "should", not "shouldn't" D'oh! |

When I've got more of a choice (at my parents), I might watch BBC. Used to watch some CNN, but it seems to me that all American (news) channels've got at least some government bias. Usually, all I've got are 4 Norwegian channels, of which I prefer the news on NRK. But more often than TV, I check out the news on various web pages. |
