When you reply to a post, it gets "bumped" to the top of the topic list when viewing a forum (if the listing is set to last post in descending order). However, you can "bump" a topic without adding a reply just by using the "Bump this topic" feature. Note that this option is ONLY available to moderators (if enabled), global moderators and administrators.
