Sorry another computer question, and this is the only place it makes sense to put it. Does anyone know how to skin the windows xp start bar? I mean how do you change it form default? Example (John25874's desktop) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/Sol...rule/ffdesk.jpg (the bottom) |

There's a way skin the start bar using a registry hack or something, if I recall, but it's been a long time since I've done it and I can't remember how. But from that image, it appears they're using some sort of theme software, like WindowBlinds, where you can download and install all sorts of skins that will effect the taskbar, your browser, notepad, and even the calculator. |

WinCustomize has all sorts of this type of stuff. ![]() There's a number of similar places, though I can't think of any offhand. Oh, but some of them are linked to from WinCustomize. Maybe just do a search for customizing windows or something? |

ResHack is a very useful piece of kit for this. You can directly edit explorer.exe, so if you don't like the start bar saying start, you can make it say "end" or "hello" or "I wub Lothy" You can also change all the Windows images, so if you want to know more, let me know, cos I've used it a fair bit

UXTheme is the file that controls theming. You need only patch it once. Then download other VS's (.msstyles) from, say, DeviantArt or Neowin and just double-click to run. |

So all I have to do is download more .mssstyles? Is there a place that explains it in full so I stop bothering you? |
