it looks to me like those are conversion service costs and not downloadable converters. and i'm not trying to convert from Ikonboard or something. I want to go *from* and not *to* invisionfree.

Just PM DuffMan. He can help you. I also purchased an IPB but decided to stay here for now. The service is much better here. Almost instantly they fix the problems as where with IPB you are trying to contact someone on the phone who seems to always be away from his desk! <_<

The conversions are services, not programs. We will convert your board into an IPB-usable format so that you can upload it to a host of your choosing.

what does IPB mean? I'm not technically *going* anywhere. I tried invisionfree, liked it, got a communnity up and running, and now we want to have the flexibility of unlimited emoticons, skins, upload space, etc.. and I have a server to host it on. So I just want to retain the old posts, etc. and move it to my server which is running Invision Board software.

I've been wanting to do this for almost a year now. Please, does anyone know how I can do this? :/

There are converters, but the ones I know are for PHPBB, Ikonboard, and Vbulletin. Not really sure about IF though. Don't get me started on the differences between IF and IPB. If you want to know-- THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE, USER SIDE. There is a big difference on the admin side as there are so many links to choose from they had to make collapsable boxes. IPB are for more advance users as you need to do alot of digging to do what you want while IF are for more beginners to intermidiate users.

Correct, it's a conversion service which costs money.

The conversion service allows you to move from InvisionFree to IPB.

Currently, we CANNOT do conversions from IPB to InvisionFree.

Invisionfree has been great for me and my users but I'm getting greedy and wondering whether its worth converting to Invision Power Board. Has anyone really assessed the pro's and cons. I don't feel knowledgeable enough to make a sensible decison.

Any help would be welcome.

It all depends on your patience. Took me a day or 2 to just get the board running as it's hell trying to install one. Also there are more commands needed to do certain things unlike here in IF, but the PRO about IPB is that it's more flexible on how you want the board to look. If you were a user, you wouldn't really know that you're on an IPB unless they showed you the footer messages.
