 hey i run a Forum, and you know all those idiots and phedofiles out there, well i was just wondering is it safe? Can they somehow find out where you live or anything just by you posting? Just wanted to know i get little worried sometimes... :'( :rolleyes:

 No, they can't get any info about you as long as you don't post any info about yourself.
I'd suggest not letting anyone post their full name and school, for example, as that could allow somebody to find out who you are and where you live fairly easily.
Also, I don't know how old you are, but if you have a job, I'd be careful about posting too much information about it, as that info combined with something else, possibly IP address, depending on certain factors, could also lead people right to you.
IP address by itself isn't a risk though.
But, if you mention somewhere that your name is Kevin, and somewhere else that you're 14, and somewhere else that you work at a bakery, and somebody knows your IP, they might be able to trace that IP to find out what city you live in, then start calling bakeries asking for Kevin until they find yours or come to your town and drive around checking all the bakeries until they find one with a 14 year old named Kevin.
Etc.
Chances of any of that ever happening are almost non-existent, of course, and you're far more likely to have something bad done to you by somebody you know, or a neighbor or whatever, but it doesn't hurt to think about stuff before just naively throwing personal information around on the internet for random people to discover.
