 hey, i got a question;

my PC has been very slow for the last hours, i hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE a few times and the program MSIEXEC.exe seems to be using alot of the CPU, it went to 75% just now, and i've heard that that is not good?

i'm a n00b when it comes down to this stuff, so can someone tell me if that program is the reason of my PC's slowness, and what that program is in the first place. and if it's not that program, any idea's what it could be and what to do against it.

 .exe can usually contain viruses. If you have a virus blocker, that should have dealt with it.

 run a virus scan to see if it is a virus. then delet it if it is.

.exe can usually contain viruses. If you have a virus blocker, that should have dealt with it.

.exe simply means the file is an executable. Anything you run on your computer, such as a computer game etc. is an .exe. .exe's do not usually contain viruses. ;)

weird, i've ran my virusscanner ( Panda Titanium somthing ) and it didn't find anything.
that site says it's used to instal programs, but i defenitly was not installing anything.

i'm gonna scan my whole PC tonight, just to be sure.

 You are using winXP I assume (you know te CPU %, only XP and 2000 tell you that, so XP is my best guess).
It will download and install some (useless:P) updates by itself.
Turn that off, do it yourself.
(The really important stuff you have to do yourself anyway, and the automatic function just slows down your pc and connection)

I do a search for anything I ever find on my computer if I don't know what it is or why it's doing what it's doing.
Same goes for any error message I ever get and don't know why.
Just type it in and you almost always find the answer, and if not, you can post in a tech forum.

 I'm too lazy to click those links above, but msiexec is part of the Windows Installer packages. Something's hung up on install. Just reboot to let it finish up.

 Msiexec usually loads after you make changes to the OS using the command msconfig.exe

 Lol... Msiexec is the command I use to launch MS-DOS Command Prompt on high restricted computers.
Good thing you didn't delete it, that could of been it for you. Well... at least your support.
