Say that someone could crack into the root admin's acount, and deleted the forums. Can you get it back to life? Oh yeah, how do you crack?

You'd have to send in a Support Ticket from another board, and most likely pay DuffMan some $. :eh:

Cheers,
Yata Tyranno :)

Yeah, you can usually get a board restoration if something goes wrong or things get deleted. Just be aware that there is a possible fee (not often though), like Yata Tyranno said, and that it will take a while (there are a lot of boards to be restored, amongst other things that need DuffMan's attention only).

And you asked how a board gets cracked? It happens when someone guesses or finds out the administrator's password - if the admin password is unsecure, you run a high risk of being cracked

For a minor restoration fee, like someone said earlier.

For the answer to that, you must climb the highest mountains, swim down the deepest sea's, endure the greatest heat, fly through the highest skies... you get the idea o.O'[font]

Uh, I'm not really sure what you're asking. Are you asking how to crack, or how people crack into other people's accounts? If your asking that, I think Matthew pretty much explained it.

No offense, but asking "how do i crack" is a stupid question that shouldn't be asked. There are plenty of sites out there that will help you. Google is your friend.

And it's not too wise to be asking these things on InvisionFree's Support forums.....

Oh yeah and brute force cracking won't work on IF ACP's.

Why would you want to know how to crack anyway? Well, put it this way, you need software and a load of dictionaries, and in any case, it is a total waste of time, not to mention pointless, ;)

Uh IF can detect brute force cracking & stop it.

So, literally no software would work.

Unless they crack your e-mail account first, then ask to e-mail the password...

Yep, this is 100% correct. Weakest point of entry is your Password Recovery question on your e-mail

Yup. :P :D

Not trying to be harsh, but 99.9% of cracking happens due to the stupidity exhibited by the administrators. >_<

And weak passwords, that is why dictionaries are used so often by crackers,

And the other .1% is malicious attacks such as password yoinking via keylogger or tainted software. One of the scariest ways your account gets cracked? Using the same password different places.

On a side note, if you give moderators the ability to be able to delete posts then disaster can strike any day. Like on this forum where a mod´s mom entered and proceeded to delete everything in sight because she spent too much time online. >_<

As soon as I heard about this, I took away all of my mod's deleting rights.

That's hilarious.
Well, I mean.. it's messed up and incredibly unfortunate, but still.
Yeah.
It never would have occured to me that something that absurd and random could happen.
You'd like to think that parents that stupid are a rarity, but who knows, so it's probably best to be safe and only let them move topics to the trash or something.
