How come is it some Forums startup and get so lucky, with 100 members in about 5 days then thousands in a few weeks, how do they get so big? Ive tried everything |

Two versions to this answer advertinsg get tons of members that never post (bad way) Just have a very good forum that people are interested in, and start it with some people that a lot of users know. |

A lot of the ones that start out and instantly get lots of members are ones that are replacements for other forums that are closing or having troubles or whatever, so lots or even most of the old members sign up for the new forum. Or they advertise at big forums that allow such things. |

yeah but sad thing is i dont know any forums closing lol. If anyone knows of a forum closin let me know  My forum started in november last year on another company, we got 100 mebers in 1 week and 20, 000 posts in 4 weeks. Then we moved to invision and got 250 members and 11,000 posts and now we have just stopped dead, noones came and we are trying to get people to keep coming and advertsing and doing something new each day. We are at the top of the boards directory, told just about every board i know about about my forum and comps on the board and nothings working, i dont know weather to close or not. I also wanna one day 2 years or so move over to a invision power board if we get big enough, so i really wanna big cool forum

Takes time no matter what you do. If you can get some realy active moderators (there are always people who just want to post and help out) and get the board realy active that definately helps. Do lots of advertising. The first few months are most important. Once you get 20-30 members who are reasonably active your over the first hurdle. From there you just grow

Removed Try submiting your forum to google and yahoo etc. always put a link to your forum in your sig then all those forums you visit have a way of finding your site. plus if there site is listed in google it will also find that link to you when people search for your forum so you have more places with your link |
