Now, as you can tell, in IE the text is knocked down to the base line of the navigation, while in Firefox it shows up fine, just underneath the logo. Is there any CSS IE hack I could implement to get rid of the large gap viewed in IE, while keeping the view in Firefox the same?

I haven't worked on this site in awhile, and I'll be changing the entire subject of it later, when the entire template is complete.

 Lower the width of the content DIV to about 510px instead of 520px. You need to shorten things up a little for IE otherwise it wraps them.
