Yes, you should be able to use a <link rel="shortcut icon" /> to accomplish this. |

Favicon Code Please look for your code next time... This one came directly from the code and hack index. Edit: Sorry Seth, I didn't see your post. |

Yeah, it has to be a 16x16 .ico file otherwise it won't work. Take a look in the topic linked to, it tells you a but more about favicons |

Favicons can also be GIFs and BMPs. EDIT: But I think IE will die. |

It doesn't have to be an .ico file for Firefox, but apparently it has to for IE, so, effectively, it has to. :/ |

you can probably find a few sites on the internet that convert gifs/jpgs etc to .ico files. I found one but can't remember when I put the link. ![]() Edit: here it is: http://www.html-kit.com/e/favicon.cgi |

Can't you just save it as a .ico file? Anyway, the main issue is that IF doesn't allow uploads of .ico files. >_< Neither do most image hosts. |

main problem I encountered, since I'm not that good with graphics programs is making something 15x15 without it looking really weird. That site converts the file to .ico and reduces the image's size to 15x15 even and manages to keep the quality of the image. The site is probably more useful for those who aren't very good with graphics programs. I know ripway allows .ico files and the file is so small you probably don't have to worry about your bandwidth going over the limit unless you have alot of other files on that account. |
