So we had to write short stories in class and me being a fan of my own work, I had to pst my section of the story i had to write for a group. once i get all 5 parts to the story ill post the entire thing. but for now, read my part. its about 4/5's of the way through the story but is still terribly entertaining. Sorry if its too long for some of you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Noticing that this fight was futile, Jack began to turn and run yet again. As he ran his hardest, he couldn’t keep from thinking that not only did he not turn in yesterday’s report, he had yet to clock in. “Note to self…call HR to clock these hours.” Jack said as he raced down the corridors. This was just not Jack’s day, he thought to himself, “First I fall asleep at the meeting, then I get punched in the face by my boss, then I get chased through the entire building, and I was almost killed by a hired assassin…. What the HELL?!?!?” All that running can’t happen without the runner getting at least slightly parched can it? Obviously not, seeing as just at that moment, Jack eyed a singular empty Dixie cup just begging to be put near the water cooler. Jack, breathing heavy, couldn’t have been happier to oblige. Without even slowing, Jack grabbed the cup right off of the cubicle wall. He passed in a flash, but the outcry off sadness behind him was ominous, seeing as a fellow employee had just lost his favorite Dixie cup from his very grip. Keeping his frantic pace, Jack made yet another mental note to apologize for his blatant pilfering of the Dixie cup, but at that moment, there was a slightly more pressing matter to attend to. Jack’s mouth was dry, the Dixie cup was empty, and the water cooler was just begging for today’s maiden voyage. Knowing that if he stopped he was dead, Jack had to make the most gutsy and audacious office time move ever; to attempt to fill his precious Dixie cup with water, without stopping. With a quick bit of mental preparation, Jack began his water run. Making a wide angle, he swooped in as time slowed down around him. His entire world was a blur, his heart was pumping in his ears, his hands were shaking, and Jack knew he would only have one chance for liquid refreshment. As he approached the water cooler with his swooping angle, Jack began to reach out with his pouring hand over his Dixie hand. Pushing his extremities to their limits, Jack snagged the cooler handle and began to pour. Catching every drop of water into his cup, his heart was frantic. He felt as if he were in the most pinnacle point of a movie where everything is in slow motion and if he failed, nothing else would succeed. Filling his cup ever so slowly in his mind, Jack had to continue to rotate to continue his momentum as well as grab every last precious ounce. Success! Jack filled his cup all the while at full speed and as he spun, he took that single swig of liquid restoration in full rotation. Downing the drink in a single gulp, he continued to rotate and bring himself back up to speed and in the process replacing the Dixie cup of holding onto a new cubicle wall only a few down from his. Being the way he is, Jack replaced the Dixie cup with such agile skill, he had been able to avoid creasing or deforming this magical Dixie cup of wonders. Feeling confident with himself, Jack knew he had to look back at his rapidly approaching aggressors eventually. He turned, he saw, he was currently conquering. Noticing large yellow signs announcing the construction zone within the building, Jack announced, “Ha-ha! Blatant disregard for fellow coworker safety, along with the possible destruction of corporate property…how can I NOT go in there and endanger the lives of others???” Juking right, but dodging left, Jack entered the construction zone. Within his flurry of running, all he could see was rebar, I-beams, hardhats, and caution signs fly by. Fear began to overtake him as he began to figure out he was running out of hallway. Although he did take the time to chuckle at the multiple “NO DUMPING” signs that had been placed upon the doors of the port-o-potty doors. Deciding he didn’t have enough excitement in his life, Jack sped towards the cracked window nearest the current group of constructions workers. Somehow managing to grab a hard hat, Jack never stopped running. He plowed right through the cracked window and began to plummet towards the earth. As he free fell towards the earth guaranteeing himself certain doom, Jack pondered aloud, “Idiotic…yes. Entertaining…of course. Possibly could have been a good idea…most likely. But when the hell did I start working on the fourteenth floor!? I mean I could have sworn I was on the second over the oddly placed dumpsters. Well I guess my insurance could pay for this seeing as I haven’t reported anything yet…Ooo but the deductible after words is gonna’ suck. I could claim some sort of employee endangerment lawsuit against the company seeing as they did try and kill me via a hired assassin. All right. If I live, I shall flip a coin. Conflict officially resolved.” Nodding to himself with content, Jack realized he was still falling towards the end. Breathing in one last time, Jack thanked that little Dixie cup for all his help, and Billy for helping him out back in the office. Now all that was left for him was to finish this…so he stretched his arms out, and placed them behind his head, and began to relax. |

hehe the other parts are HOPEFULLY just as good. seeing as 2 of the other people im working with have a pretty good sense of humor like mine. although i like the pointlessly long monologues and overly descriptive points more than the others. im not sure about the 2 girls im working with though. hopefully there parts wont SUCK! >.< oh one can hope |
