don't think there is any diffrence between verseions of Microsoft paint like things in XP dont' exist in the ME version, etc. atlest I thinik. havent' been on a ME computer for a while. This computer used to be one but the ME was sort of having trouible so we stuck in the XP disk and it's a XP service pack 2 now. |

Alter the "Save as type" at the "Save as" dialog menu. |

I think there may be an update on windows update for that. I know that even on some versions of winXP paint does not support .png I would look on the microsoft windows homepage though for help. |

If you get OpenOffice, despite its horrible interface, I believe that has a painting program in it., Just Google for it. Or download a mainstream program like Photoshop or PaintShop Pro, although these probably are surplus to what you need. |

Gimp is a great open source graphics program, it saves excellent gifs and also does pngs: http://www.gimp.org/ or http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html MSpaint can save gifs, but they look like barf <_< If you don't want to use Gimp you can also make your bmp in Paint and use Irfan View to turn it into a decent gif. Not sure if it does pngs too... |
