 No time for detail, but in short:

JavaScript: This is a very simple, easy-to-learn, watered-down interactivity thing. It can be very powerful, though. Nice and easy ot make popups, dynamic menus, cookies, etc.

PHP: One of the most powerful languages around for the net, is tied in closely with databases, and content management. Very, very useful, though harder than JS.

Just a short overview, but for more detail, look on W3schools - a great place for learning lots of things.

Gotta zzz now, sorry for little info.
