well i bought a new 120gb Hard Drive, from best buy. its a 120gb Maxtor SATA 8mb of cache and stuff i figured out how to install it myself and how to run it as additional drive space instead of my main but i cant figure out how to do 1 thing...how do i change its drive name from C:\ to J:\ i ask only because my main HD is an 80 gb maxtor SATA and is set as I:\ and I just never though i needed it changed back to C:\. i like being different i guess. but i want the I:\ to stay as my main for installing stuff so how do i set the C:\ to J:\??? |

personal preference, and your main drive is noramlly set by what letter it is, (A-Z) and i want it changed from C:\ to J:\ most likely its a simple process that really doesnt require any comment or asking for reasoning. just an answer... |

I forget what OS you use.. :/ If it's XP, depending on your configuration, you can do Start >> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management >> Storage >> Disk Management >> Right-click the drive and change drive letter, or you can get there from Control Panel >> Administrative Tools, etc. Probably an easier way, but that's easy enough. |

When i installed my new harddrive (ages ago), when i formatted and partitioned it, i was given the option to choose drive letters or to use default ones. |

actually phrank thats the EXACT instructions microsoft suggests that i use so im guessing that was a valid option seeing as i actually followed those instructions hehe. thx again. i think it was the 37+ gigs of media i had on my 80gb HD that filled it up....hmm i wonder. hehe |
