But now in retrospect, I realize that I rather be friendly and courteous than formal. If someone answers a post, I will let them know that I have read and appreciate their answer with a thank you note... ...that's not spaming ...that's being human.

It's just a pain, when other people are waiting for their own questions to be solved. Just PM the person if it's that urgent. I'm all for being polite, but there are other methods.

Good luck. etc. etc. Anything that sounds like and instant message session instead of a real post is what we discourage and classify as spam.

The problem is solved now!", to me that sounds perfectly alright. It's better then PMing a Mod saying "you can close the topic now". But when your post is something like "OH, THAATS WHAT IT IS? OK." that sounds pointless.

Unless your laughing or saying thank you, it's not spam. But if people say "O!" in a topic that's about, say, One Piece, it's spam.

Not only useful for the helper, but also for the people browsing through old topics for info before starting their own thread. And yes, they do exist One thing I really hate is people editing their first post and post title after their problem has been solved. 'Mods, you can close this' or 'Problem solved' makes it impossible for other people to get info from that topic and sometimes even for the helpers to see what advice actually helped... SUPER annoying <_<
