I was using my downstairs PC yesterday and I wanted to burn a DVD movie. So, I took the DVD burner out of my PC upstairs and hooked it up downstairs. Of course, the downstairs PC already had a CD burner and a DVD-R drive so I unhooked both of them and put in the DVD burner. I burned the DVD, etc, etc. Today afternoon, I decided to unhook the DVD burner and take it back upstairs. So, I hooked up the original CD burner and DVD-ROM drive. I boot into Windows, sound WILL NOT WORK! This is very annoying, I tried uninstalling drivers, re-installing, NOTHING works. I loaded linux thinking that if sound works there, then it might be a windows problem. But sound does not work in Linux either. So, that means either the cable for the speakers is put in wrong or something. And I can't figure out what. I made sure the wire was in the right place, everything. And the sound still doesnt work. (as in i hear nothing from the speakers when I play something) And Windows detects no errors, etc. I need some suggestions, thanks. |

find a download for the AC'97 audio codec. that has now become the standard sound card codec for pretty much all newer computers |
