I have many pet peeves on the forums. To fix them, do the following:

1. Please read the rules and the guidelines BEFORE posting; then you will not get in trouble and you don’t cost the staff grief.
2. Look for your answer in appropriate places on the forum before asking your question. And by the way, being impressed does not come out of seeing a board where all you see is either the announcment forum or not even seeing anything but the skin. When advertising, you want to show all you have so people will want to come to your forum.
4. If you ask a question or file a request, you are expected to come back for it. The staff member or any member who answered your question or filled out your request worked hard and with effort, and that hard work and effort should pay off. Even if it takes a couple of weeks, be patient — these things can take awhile and people do have their own obligations besides you and your request.
5. If the guidelines are asking you to answer questions, just answer them; if you are being interviewd for staff, for example, and the question is “have you ever done this position before”, don’t say “yes I have and I was really good, so will you pick me?” Say something like, “yes, and here is what I accomplished…”
6. It is just common sense that if a topic is older than a month or two at least, just leave it. Don’t bump it; otherwise people would be reading a billion topics that aren’t necessary again. It’s like you are talking to someone, move on to a different subject, and then an hour give your insight about a subject that ended an hour ago.
7. Choose your user name carefully. Crappy old user names will not appeal administrators to make you staff. Choose something a bit more attractive to a staff member or any member.  Impressions are important wherever you go.

I personally disagree with strict rules on bumping old topics, I've seen forums that ban you if you bump a topic that's 3 days old without taking anything into consideration. :blink: I think bumping is fine as long as the user has something to add to the topic, if it's just some weird, unnecessary bump then I can understand handing out a warning or something but unless there's mass bumping I'd say it's hardly a big deal. I also don't believe in penalising people who actually bump a slightly old topic by adding good, insightful information. Might revive an old flame, suppose not on these forums but on a normal forum it might. Admins who hand out suspensions or worse simply because an old topic has been bumped and don't bother paying attention to any external factor really annoy me, and I've known a few.
