 A portal is like a an opening page for your forum. You can put different news and statistics on it like a whole website.

First off, you used GUPortal, which isn't the same thing as what is being added to the boards. Second of all, it wasn't just little ole you. Probably 25% of the boards used portals. And thirdly, it's not that hard to make the portal, or alter the code or anything. You just have to know a bit of Javascript, CSS, and HTML.

 A portal basically your board but with a different look. You can choose which forums to extract news from to display on the portal. You can't really add news directly on the forums like a CSM (Content System Management)...but you can do it on your forums. Once you get it...it won't be so great after a few days as it basically does nothing but for everyone to look at.
