I'll start with one: Back in August, I tried to upload an entire copy of IPB 1.3 to freewebs through the file manager. That's right. One file at a time. Then I got it (Mostly) all up, and found out I needed something called MySQL, whatever that was. Yeah.... I was one big n00b. |

I'm constantly having to upload large things file by file because at uni FTP is blocked. I've never not realised that a requirement wasn't availiable though. |

FTP = File Transfer Protocol its a way to upload and download files over the internet. u FTP files to aserver where others can access to download or view. mySQL is a web based program/code that allows variables to be changed and updated constantly over the internet. its used with alot of websites who use alot of changing numbers and have page creation stuff. its all automated to speed up performance and stuff actually my first site is still up and running but without updates. im currently working on version 3 of my website and i am now using a different host. but as for now, version 1 is still accessible and runs great after a few years of tweaks haha. good ole freewebs. |

I've never had a website. I've always preferred setting up ones for other people and participating in them. *Pojo[/b] contemplates creating Pojoman.com* |

This isn't a funny story but my first website was right after 9/11. I made one for the terrorist attacks and had a timeline and all these pictures and stuff. It's long gone now... |

From a SQL book I bought today: What is SQL? SQL (pronounced as the Letters S-Q-L or as Sequel) is an abberviation for Stuctured Query Lanague. SQL is a langue designed specifcally for communication with databases. Unlike other langues (spoken langues like Enlgish, or programming langues liek java or Visual Basic), SQL is made up very few words. This is deliberate. SQL is designed to do one thing and do it well--provide you with a simple and efficent way to read and write data from a database What are the advatages of SQL? SQL is not a properitary langue used by specific database vendors. Almost every major DBMS supports SQL, so learning this one lanague will enable you to interact with just about every database you'll run into. SQL is easy to learn. The statements are all made up of desciptive English words, and there aren't that many of them. Despite its apparent simplicity, SQL is actually a very powerful lanague, and by clearly using its lanague elements you can preform very complex and sophisticated database operations. And with that, let's learn SQL. Sorry for any mispellings. not easy to type on the keyboard when it's the one that's holding the book down. |
