Any photographers about?

Just wondering if there were any photographers amongst us! Either professional or recreational? What are your favourite subjects? How did you get into it?

I did a photography course at school many years ago which I enjoyed, and on my last birthday (in May) decided that the only thing I wanted was a camera... because of my other hobby (aquaria), I chose to go for a D-SLR rather then a point and shoot (P&S) as I had seen some amazing photos made using the manual settings (which you can't do on most P&S)... so a Canon 350D and three lenses later, here I am! As you will notice, I use Flickr to host my photos (see my sig for link) so click away and critique appreciated!

Interestingly, I met my girlfriend years ago because of photography as well.

Anyways, I used to be more active (it helped having the facilities to do darkroom development) in photography, but still do occasionally go out and do some shooting. I have numerous point and shoot cameras, as well as a Nikon N-75 with the standard lens, a wide angle 28 mm lens, and a 80-200 telescope lens, as well as about 10 or so filters, from standard red/yellow/clear to a pretty cool one that is cris-crossed to make light reflect oddly.

I also have an old Pentax SLR, its a manual which is nice. I take that camping and the like, a little heavy but worth it.

While I see the ease (and often take advantage of) digital photography, I consider film, be it color or black and white, to be a bigger challenge.

I enjoy using both myself, but film is becoming relatively expensive and I am far from being an expert, so still need the extra ability to delete bad photos without spending a lot of money on having them processed. (While I used to use a darkroom, I no longer have access to anything suitable.)

Between the two of us we have the following lenses and bodies: 350D, 30D, 24mm tilt-shift, 60 & 100mm macros, 70-200mm IS and 75-300mm zooms, 50mm F1.4 and 18-55mm kit. Next to buy are the polarising filters for each lens width... B&W ones of course

and after that is a BIG printer!

Oh yeah, I also have a Macro, forgot about that, don't use it often.

For B&W I just use a red filter, works out fine for all around usage. Of course, a yellow one of cloudy days, etc etc is fine, but if you're going to get just one good one, get a good red one.

I have a digital camera but it takes 4 bateries at a time so I only use it on special occassions.... I have taken alot of pictures but mainly of my sister compiting at shows with her horse

I want to take photography. Hopefully, I can stick it in next year's classes.

I see so many things around here that it makes me really wish I had the class and camera now.

Wow, I think that's the same one I have.

I like taking photographs, if it's in a good spot and time to take it.

I like photography.

Although my camera isn't that great (I want more zoom), it's not like I can afford a better one. It's a 7.1 mega pixel Nikon Coolpix 7600. It's really easy to use.
(Why am I using It so much? :blink: )

I like taking pictures of nature and non-people the most, I've got a really good photo of a sunset on the lake.

And yeah...

I'm not a professional photographer, but I do make some money doing it by selling pictures online.

My favorite subjects are people by far, and I got into it through videography strangely enough. I used to love making strange home videos and until like the Age of 14, I was sure I would be the next Spielberg. Anyways, unable to edit the movies or simply not having the patience to take the film beyond the camera, I went to stills and fell in love.
