Zonealarm is good, and free.
Well, you can upgrade to pro if you want.

firewalls are garbage and more a nuisence than anything good.

get spy sweeper, spybot, ad-aware, and microsoft syware beta, get AVG from Grisoft or Anti-Vir, defrag and run a 3 wipe on eraser. your good.

then use slimbroswer for normal surfing and mozilla for "special sites"

then ur good.

I've also heard good things about Sygate.
I'd have mentioned it as well, but couldn't think of the name.

I've never found firewalls to be a nuisance at all, and I wouldn't recommend having an internet-connected computer without one, but other than that, you'd be pretty well off by following Iostream's advice.

Oh, and "special sites" is sort of our code word for porn, etc. if you didn't figure it out. ;)

McAfee is decent, but it's also paid.....so I thin kyour're better off with ZoneAlarm ;)

I think WebRoot makes a firewall. WebRoot makes very good products, like thier spysweeper ;)

Im using Zone Alarm at the moment and iv used it for the last few years. seems to be pritty good.

I have used Black Ice too and that was good and easy to use.

Ever since i got ad aware pro and ad watch i havnt ever found any viruses or ad/spy ware on my laptop.

I agree with the Sygate Personal Firewall, it's been the best I've used so far, and you can disallow (or allow) tons of different things evertime they try to access your network. Great if you're a gamer like me, or just install lots of programs...
