We don't keep them on your warn log. It's more of a thing where someone says in the staff room "Hey, X has been giving half-crocked support for weeks, look here and here and here and here!" Then we agree, get rid of him.

If you have one here and there we will not notice. It is only a consistent pattern that will hurt you.

 That only makes them Want to do it. Tell them that they will be hunted down by jeremey if they do it EVER again. That will make them stop :) One, I agree with the who backseat moderating thing, but some people just post to get their post count up, so it looks big. You should use the warn system to full advantage. The warn system will be the warning, not a post or a pm. That, imo, is more efficient.

I will let you know before anything happens. Crockerd had gotten numerous reprimands before this policy was formally put in place. Numerous.

When you raise someone's warning level, it gives you the option to PM or email them with an explanation/message.
I usually say something brief, but not always, and probably not if I already mentioned something in the topic where the warning was earned.

Anyway, it's hard not to know when you're doing something inappropriate, isn't it? :/

Tis is. :/ You wouldn't believe it if I started giving names out. Could probably make a nice little book out of the people who speed to topics, make poor support posts, back-seat moderate, etc. etc. :yes:

It may not be clear to you because..
Either:


  • You don't go to the Support forums often.

  • Or you don't see it is a problem so you don't notice it.



I'm not saying the second option is you, but it's one of the problems. People don't know it's wrong either because:


  • They are general idiots.

  • They don't listen to warnings given by the staff.

  • Or most commonly, they want to be on staff or want the highest post count. They think they are helping and that this 'helping' will get them a staff position.



But it wont get them a staff position. See the staff potentials list? I know I do.
