Lol, using Linux is the best antivirus you can get. However, that's like living in a box to stop you getting a disease

lol. I'm a PC fan but I dont hesitate to admit that if you dont want a hassle with security, go somewhere else. Anyways, I recently was browsing through a magazine and they rated the one by Trend Micro the best virus protector out there. Both Norton and McAfee are memory hogs. |

I've been using NAV for many years and the best is Nort.System Works, the utilites are awesome ... ghost, Norton Disk Doctor to name a few..NDD has saved my corrupted hard drives many times, one buton check up was in NSW2003, thats very good too. My NAV ran out a few weeks back and I thought I would try AVG, well the next day I had 2 trojans! and I have had not been infected in probably 5 years other then spyware, so it was back to Nortons, no slow down at all if you have proper Ram in your computer to what your OS is. This computer has XP on it and Nortons is no problem..I'm hooked and virus free |

i prefer AVG over Norton because of 2 reasons: 1. Norton will chug your computer in a punkbuster game 2. service pack 2 of windows will detect AVG but not Norton(the newest ones maybe) |

1) increase your Ram 2) mines older with the Sp2 update - no problems - actually never heard of that on any forums I visit. |

windows will detect norton, but you must use liveupdate and download the norton WMI update first. 2005 doesnt have that problem (I think) About speed: Norton is slower than some other ones out there, but its really a matter of pereference. Besides there was a good speed increase in 2005. Still not the fastest, but closer. |

nope norton can update things automatically. and TELLS YOU when they have been installed/are ready to be installed. I like norton better then anything else (well anti-virus/fixer of computer problem(s)). |

Right well I said it wasnt the fastest one, not that it couldnt do those things. Right now I do use Norton 2004 pro.
I really dont know how much better it is. All I know is that there is a speed increase. Im not sure how much. If you've got 2004, I would just hold off another year or two before you upgrade......like me! |

Norton makes your pc function slower than without it. I'd rather have Trend Micro PCcillin.

something(s) may run a bit slower but not much. also can AVG alert when you need 2 defrag, alert you when you have 'in danger files', can it make it so the file is ONLY accisable to AVG, and NOT other programs? As for 2005 and 2004 diffrence, I used to run 2002, so I don't know what was added to 2003/2004. For 2005 (that I know of that wasn't in 2002) was: it tells you how much 'free space you have' the "one button checkup" is a bit more advanced, you can choose what scans 2 do. You can install "norton 'go back' " which lets you revert your time before it had problems. You can compact (maker smaller) the registry (for atlest ME/2000 (I think for 2000 ). Tells you when you need to run a "surface test". norton can do way more then what i've listed. |

I have Norton Anti-virus 2005. It does okay, it still let a few things into my system though but nothings going to block everything out. So...it's ok.
