I'm bored.. Posts: 47 Group: Members Member #9,644 Joined: December 13, 2003	I know almost everyone is a big fan of Doom 3 and all, but do people have to go through damn lag in the game!? I just bought the game, and already I'm seeing crappy graphics and choppy speed, I can't even aim right! And I just got this new computer 2 months ago on Christmas! Is there suppose to be some option or program to make things run faster..

Missjayness Posts: 1,814 Group: Members Member #5,598 Joined: September 20, 2003	If Doom gives you the option to, turn off anti-aliasing. It may make the monsters appear a bit more jagged around the edges, but it'll load faster.

It works fine when i'm in the PDA menu, but in combat, and when I can see the graphics, I can't move right, I can't aim right, and I get slaughtered easily due to it, because of lag!

Maybe some integrated? :ph34r: Or if not, a Radeon x300 or a Geforce FX 5700 or less? Any of those on Doom 3 = lag city. HL2 will run much better because it uses pre-rendered lighting, not dynamic stuff. Looks just as good, but much less CPU-intensive.

Member Posts: 7,447 Group: Members Member #12,934 Joined: February 16, 2004	could also be the amount of RAM you have. 256mb is fine to run Simcity 4, but if you try to open a large city that's ABSOULTLEY blank (nothing on the land) it takes like a good 5 mins to open it. but add about 512 (to total 768mb) it takes about 1-3 now, still alot but everything loads faster, and it exists (if you go to desktop; but not like save and exit) faster.

Bunny Boi of IFS Posts: 3,215 Group: Members Member #38,568 Joined: December 17, 2004	yeah ram does affect the speed, also make sure all unnexccessary programs are closed while playing, as anything running in the background will use ram and slow your game down.

Bunny Boi of IFS Posts: 3,215 Group: Members Member #38,568 Joined: December 17, 2004	yeah, I hope Dbz wqas thinking MB and just put down k by mistake... as 768k of ram isnt very much, 1mb of ram is more than 768k of ram. I personally have 512MB ram for my sistem, a Radeon 9200 SE with 128MB of ram, and a 2400+ AMD Sempron, it runs games pretty well. if you give us your specs we could get a better grasp at what exactly is causing your problem.
