And they blocked the AIM and yahoo servers from school, so are there any other IMing services that dont use the AIM or yahoo servers? iChat, Adium, AIM, Yahoo, none of those work because they connect to the same AIM and/or Yahoo servers. O and the computers are Mac OS X panther if that makes a difference. Sorry if this isnt in the right section or against the rules or w/e.

Pimp Posts: 107 Group: Members Member #37,368 Joined: December 9, 2004	isnt that for windows though? and i think thats basically the same thing as adium cept for windows.... so it still uses the AIM server which is what they blocked, not the actual programs but the servers they connect to.

I should use your IP to trace you and report you to your school so they can take your laptop back. Not sure if this topic is against the rules or not.. :unsure:

If you paid for the computer, and you paid for the internet connection, you can do whatever you want. Otherwise, obey the rules. Like on IF, you can't post nude pics, even if they aren't porn, but DuffMan is nice enough to let you use this service, so you have to obey his rules whether you like them or not. You can go purchase an IPB and host it yourself if you want to do otherwise.

Phrank has a very good point. if the school blocked them they blocked them for good reasons. dont try to go around the blocked things. you might just be caught. and you never know that the consequences (sp) are if you do get caught. you dont want to get caught. i got caught once. and you dont want t know what happend to me. So do what Phrank says. Phrank always knows whats best

I just don't want to get expelled from my computer in a Dorm, so I would do nothing :unsure: Well if you really want to, just try trillian. They work good as well.

FTP blocked so you can't goto those silly FTP download sites with fr33 muzack and war3z. But when mail was originally blocked, i couldn't understand that! luckily they unblocked it after a week or so. IRC is blocked, again probably due to warez. all p2p is blocked. web access is unrestricted though.

If you're using a laptop during class, you then have the ability to IM other people in class or elsewhere. When you're supposed to be taking notes or something, do they really want you to do that?!?!
