Listen, i have straight a's. When i could use aim, i didnt during class. My school uses modular scheduling (if you know what that is) and i have a lot of free time. But i have nothing to do. Its obviously not affecting my grades or my class participation. Why is it so bad that i want aim so i can talk with my friends during open? My parents have no problem with me having aim on my laptop (even though its against the rules) as long as my grades stay up. The school only checks ppls laptops if they have bad grades and their teachers say they are on their laptop a lot. And if you trace my IP youll most likely get my schools IP. In which case go ahead.

They don't block anything in my school, well except some things which I'll get to.
The rules in my school are No personal E-Mail, No downloading music or videos and no Messengers.
However I find it really weird that they don't block Porn sites which kids can access to but they block gun sites, such as Remington and Bush Master.

The main thing is they gave you Macs. Qua-lit-y

My school blocks so much, it's ridiculous. Last year I was doing a project on ancient Greek art, but oh wait, there is nudity in greek art! Not for our little eyes! Banned! >_<

most schools use periodic schedules, where u have the same class ever day at the same time, for example math 1st period science 2nd every day of the week. In modular scheduling we dont have the same class at the same time every day. Its very random. Like i have sport safety first mod and then i have it again 12th mod and i dont have it again til wednesday. This gives us more options and if you dont completely fill up your schedule you get what are called open mods, and we can go anywhere in the building and if your a junior or senior you can leave the building. I have a ton of open mods even though i have a lot of classes.

The schools here block everything including google and yahoo searches. porn, chat, email unless your the lucky one with a school email address. most sites with games. Most message boards including Invisionfree and the other ones. the only thing you could look up is weather and the stupid schools front page.

The point of the matter is that you're basically betraying your school's trust. I happen to use a laptop during school (they don't give them to use, but if we either have one or want to buy one, we can use it in class) but I don't use my laptop to chat with my friends. I also get straight A's, but that doesn't give me an excuse to go on during class. If anyone that got good grades could IM people during class, then things would be completely different and the school wouldn't have blocked it. My school doesn't block the programs because they trust us to do what's right and not what's fun!

i dont use it during class, i use it when im open. No classes going on for me at that time. Im basically sitting in an IMC (Independent Media Center[or something{idk}]) doing nothing. Plus if everyone that had a's could be on aim and its not hurting their grades, why does it matter?

Because it's betraying their school's trust! I get straight A's as an honors student and I have a nice high GPA, but I still wouldn't go on AIM because if someone gives me their trust, I'm not going to betray it!

if they would really trust us, they wouldn't block all the stuff.

they blocked a lot of good sites.
yet porn, i can see as much as i want.
pretty stupid.
also hotmail and gmail where blocked.
(gmail was unblocked a day later, but still)
around here, we user hotmail/gmail to store homework and stuf.
(my school has serverproblems; the data in our accounts disapears sometimes. so storing elsewhere is a much saver option)

msn isn't blocked.
it's actially allowed in my school (after 7th hour)
so thats a nice thing :)
