He owns the beatles songs. Those rights in themselves are worth millions. So he's still worth plenty.

Once, on the way to visit pal Elizabeth Taylor at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Jackson made an impromptu stop to pick up a $10,000 bottle of perfume as a gift.

That kind of largesse can't last much longer unless Jackson's career reignites. For the first time in four decades he finds himself without a record contract, then there will be the multimillion dollar legal bills to pay. But the real culprit is--as Jackson himself sang so beautifully on an earlier album--"The Man In the Mirror."

She had alleged that security guards from the two stores beat and groped her after falsely accusing her elder son of leaving a J.C. Penney with clothes that had not been paid for. Melville ruled that Mesereau could cite the earlier lawsuit to question her credibility but could not refer to the boy as a "shoplifter." He was 8 years old at the time of the 1998 incident.

The mother later accused her ex-husband of inappropriately touching their daughter and of beating the mother and children. The father pleaded no contest to criminal charges of physical abuse. Prosecutors said last year that he was likely to testify in favor of Jackson.
