So far, i've made a bunch of forums and combined efforts with someone else, but after maybe two or three months, the forum dies. People stop talking in it. Is there any suggestion that can keep my forum alive longer then that? |

I've had that happen to mine. My best suggestion is: be patient. Keep advertising in your sigs and at forums where it's allowed, keep expanding, and just wait. Sometimes, my boards've been dead (...it's called Dead Zone.....that's....huh.), than a few weeks later, I got thirty new members and people posting like crazy. It's just luck and time. |

Seems like a plan, but I think I have to do more advertising. I left my forum from S4 for like, a year, nothing happened. That's probably because I didn't advertise. I dunno, people just ignore advertising unless there is a reward - graphic making forum, etc. There is really nothing else that will catch people's attention. BTW. nice forum man! |

Heh, thanks. Place ain't all that great, but I'm working on it. Anyway, if you get on a few affiliates lists, get graphic banners out, etc....I'm sure you'll at least get a few new members. They tell others, they join..old members come back...etc... You might try sending a Bulk E-Mail from the Admin CP giving out news and a link to yer boards, might get some old members back on and active. |

I agree that patients is the key. Although it can be boring waiting sometimes. It also can be difficult thinking of something to post so the forum won't be conpletely forgotten. You try to RP in a forum with little to no members! Well that basically described what I'm doing. |

I know what you problem is!
Just keep advertising. My board is dead, on and off every so often, but we keep growing because we have something people like. You just need something that people can really interact with.

If your forum is on the verge of dying out I suggest you mass E-Mail everyone on the forum to remind them to continue posting on it, then once you do that make your forum more fun by having contests etc. |

Sometimes people join 20 or 30 forums and just eventually forget about some of them, so a bulk email to your members every couple weeks or so isn't a bad idea. Just don't do it too often or people could consider it spam and ignore it or even block your emails. I've done that myself. If nothing else, you might just keep posting as if your forum was a blog, whether anybody else posts or not. At least it keeps people from thinking you've abandoned it. |

my forum isnt super active, but isnt dead too. I hope it never becomes too populair because I would consider moderating a job then. 10 members a week and 200 posts is good enough for me. |

Well, the more members/posts ya get, the more moderators you'd 'hire' to help out. At my board, I've actually got a system called "Mod Soldiership". Basically, I'm the only admin (in the R00T Admin account...), but my other staff are "Mod Soldiers", aka Mods/Global Mods. There's about..6 of them total. So between me and them, a 100 member board (what I have now) is no problem. But if I ever expanded big time and got a decent amount of members, I might look into one or so more... Course, you wanna get people who have these two traits as Mods or other: 1) They have to be someone you know well and trust to do the job. Especially if they have Admin CP access. 2) I'm not sayin' they gotta be on every waking day, but they should be on every so often. ...Little randomness ere'. |

My forum hasn't taken off like I hoped, but it has a few members and I am trying to advertise. The best thing to do is make topics and the members will post in them, otherwise the forum may never take off. |

Regardless of how unactive my site may seen at times, I shall not abandon it! It has to get more members sometime, and I tend to check it alot! I will not give up on it! *ponders about whether or not he should try the bulk email thing* |
