Well, my forum is just 2 months old and I have 51 members. Lot's of them don't post anymore. I'm looking for ideas to make my forum more active. Today I'm starting a banner contest, although I love my banner... <_<

It's hard to keep the members' interests... I think interaction is the righ path.

If anyone has any ideas, please share with us! ^_^

PS: Typhoon Omi, my forum is about anime too! But it's in Portuguese language! (that explains my bad english)... I've seen yours, it's very nice! By the way, I love Yusuke!
:D

well, heres one of my suggestions, maybe a pinned topic that states rules or interesting features..
i added a link next to the portal thingy on my forum that was a link to a chatroom, and that has made more people interested.

I have a forum which is currently offline.

If you are having trouble getting it to start off I think this is a good idea, because then when I do open it, then people can see the more or less finished result, rather than a few topics. I prefer to join a board if it looks professional, and active.

hatake_kakashi - Think about what you are interested in, and go from there.

Thanks Aurora! ^_^ And your boards are pretty nice looking too. And Kakashi, best way to start a forum's a Rule or FAQ thread, then maybe just a chat about the topic from you (in another thread). Gives everbody the idea.

And Jappy, it's through the Admin CP, couldn't tell ya the exact place (gotta go. =P), but it's there. Under "Bulk E-Mail Members" I..think...

So basically, strategies are to keep advertising no matter what, keep members interested, patience, and bulk emails. Is there anything else left on the road for a successful forum? Probably members.

Well, from what I have gathered, you need a theme to your board. Say you had an RPG forum, you need to create your own storyline, characters, names, domains, etc., because if you just take everything from Final Fantasy, or something, then your board could die quite easily.

You need to make a good first impression, make sure you have everything you need before you register your board, because if you register a board and are working on it for a month, chances are most people who join it, will get fed up waiting and leave.

So, get everything you need, graphics, skin, etc., and then take a few hours to get everything set out and then try and get people to register. If guests like it, then they might register.

Also, have a good colo(u)r range in your graphics, get a good skin, banner, buttons, team icons/pips and forum markers, that usually can attract members.

That's really all I can say, try and affiliate, get a good affiliation code and start affiliating with sites who are in the same category are you, (RPG, Graphics, Final Fantasy, etc) and remember to add your board to the IF Directory, that'll get you some members, hopefully, ^_^

Hope this helps!

Advertisements really work. Try to join those directory listings, and top sites lists. Also, affiliating with small sites under the same category your board has could help. :)

If it's an RPG board, then I think that one should create a storyline of their own.

Also, constant change is very important. :) People got bored if they see the same thing for some time. What else? Err.. Interaction. Try to interact with members as often as possible. Be open to questions and suggestions. Your site would be great if its content came from unique ideas (from your members.) :)

Hope that helps.
