 my xbox has broke on me in the past day or 2 that my brother has had it last night, i was gonna play kotor 2, but i opened the driver and the drive only went half way and refused to shut any more i havent dropped it, but when we shake it it sound of something rattling inside, which we believe to be the belt that holds the drive to open and close i spent 3 hours and managed tofix the drive, but for some reason, now it closes and opens, it wont play any disks......especially new or damaged disks if i was to open the drive, is it gonna be a simple task of fixing the belt, or would i be having to pay £50 or £70 to get a microsoft dude to repair it for me........coz i hate sendin ma expensive stuff off for repairs, incase they never return, as with one of my phones i had worth £300 can anyone help |

i went to my local store, game, and they said badically, by the sounds of it the drive that carries the data is damaged he told me to take it to the store NEX GEN on the market and tell him to repair it he said i would only have to pay a max of £50 for the repair, which would re-validate my warenty so i'm gonna take it this weekend to repair it(hopefully) |

Sorry, but I just have to say: Haha. Your fault for getting M$ junk  Heh, j/k I'm not surprised it broke :/ Anyway, good thing to see it can be fixed, £50 sounds pretty reasonable (although pushing it a little). I'd recommend against asking Microsoft for any help, their customer service is really bad sometimes >_< Unless you really have to that is |

i'm not a cheap-skate its ma bday on frday, and i aint payin £150 for a new xbox when i can get it completely refreshed up for a third of the price and keep my saved games on the drive i hate microsofts repairs service.......sony are way quicker a while back my dad was sanding the floorboards in my bedroom and the dust managed to ge into my drive and damage it......so i sent it to sony and they repaired that for £40 and £10 for sending it there and back pretty reasonable i was sooo board last nite missin ma xbox i ended up playing mercenaries - playground of destruction on my ps2, and omg it is soo good does anyone kno when mgs:snake eater is on xbox(i kno its on ps2 now) |

i rang nex gen they got ahold of the repair center and they said its the lens possibly damaged and it would cost no more than £35 and would be returned to me within a period of 3 days |

Aw, you should have hit it with a hammer. >_< That way, you could buy a GameCube, which is not only better but actually made well so it does not break, and live happily ever after.

Believe it or not, but X-Play (a show about video games on G4TV a.k.a. G4TechTV) had a video that showed them deliberately damaging/dropping the PlayStation 2 (original), Xbox and GameCube gaming consoles. I don't remember the exact order, but both the PlayStation 2 (original) and Xbox could NOT stand all of the damage taken and wouldn't start or play/read a game disc. Only the GameCube survived a fall of 20 feet and being hit with a hammer a few times in various places/ways. Even my GameCube system was accidentally dropped on the floor, but it still works and plays every game I have! Maybe I should throw it down the steps................ Or maybe not. |
