^harrharr i'm not sure if i've experienced it or not... i'd say i was probably too young at the time to know for sure, especially if it was at first sight. It did most definitly grow to be 'love' though. Just whether or not it started out as infatuation/lust or whether it was love is the tricky part. |

Yes, I believe at love at first sight. ![]() It somewhat happened to me (actually, it wasn't love at first sight, it was love at the third or fourth sight :ermm:) But yeah, I believe in it. ![]()

That's not true. I happen to agree with Aka Tolken's comment: But it's hard to explain that to somebody who's never experienced it, or whose belief system doesn't allow for such things. However, it's been scientifically proven that there are many factors involved in what we call "Love", and some of these take effect "at first sight", such as pheromones, as well as predispositions determined by our upbringing, including early childhood imprinting. ![]() And why couldn't there be love at first sight with animals? There is with human babies and even toddlers. This love has nothing to do with sexual attraction, hopefully , but love and sexual attraction aren't the same.I'm constantly sexually attracted to people I don't love, and have been in love with people I wasn't terribly attracted to. I had a girlfriend a few years ago that, had I not been in love with her, I definitely would not have found attractive, but for the most part, when looking at her, I didn't see her as she physically was, but rather.. I saw her potential, if that makes sense to you. Not potential as in, after exercise or plastic surgery or whatever, but potential as in.. well, it's hard to explain.. her inner self, her truth, you know? Call me a hippy, or whatever, but I learned of the existence and value of unconditional and universal love some time ago, not that I can maintain it if somebody's going to be a complete ass.. I'm no Dali Lama.. but my first instinct is to love, and most animals aren't afraid to let you love them, like people are. So, I would have loved the kittehs even if they hadn't been in the pet store, but because they were, I knew there was a good chance that if nobody bought them soon, they could be euthanized, which is why I cried when I left, when I would have simply been sad to leave them otherwise. :/ |

I don't believe in it, no. I believe in lust at first sight. I believe that Love takes time, I have to know a person. |

![]() I recognise exactly what you're saying. I've never experienced it personally but I know couples who have and in spite of lack of experience I think I understand precisely what is meant by it.

I am one of those people who have never experienced it. I honestly do not believe in it, in the sense that most are referring to. I do not believe that you can look at a person and know their personality by their outer shell. I know, especially as a guy. Woman's looks can be awfully deceiving. Very awfully deveiving. I do believe that there is a chance that you may look at a person and say "she looks like she is nice" and then once you get the chance to meet them, they are indeed nice. And when that happens (to the lucky people), they believe they knew from the moment they saw that person. But there is just as great a chance that you will look at a person, and think "she looks like she is nice" and you meet her, and she ends up being very mean. I have had that happen to me before, I have looked at a girl and just thought to myself "I love her already, I can just tell, I can feel it" and I met her and she was horrible. Not so much to me, but to other people, and she was nothing how my mind had perceived her to be. So because of my experiences with it, I do not believe in it. But maybe some day I will be one of the lucky ones who just happens to look at a girl, guess, and be right, and be sucked into the belief of love at first sight. Wait... does that rhyme? Wow, that's cool.

Hehe. Ever fallen for someone you don't really like? No matter what they're like, you still fancy them. Gah! I agree with Phrank. He is a wise man, listen to him!

:$ Thanks. This is an amusing coincidence, but I was looking for some info about Björk, who's due to come out with what sounds like another fabulous remix CD soon, so if you like Björk, and you should, because she kicks ass, you should keep an eye out for it, but anyway, I came across this quote from her explaining the inspiration for one of her songs, and I found it somewhat fitting: http://unit.bjork.com/specials/gh/SUB-02/index.htm
The lyrics for Hyper-ballad: we live on a mountain right at the top there's a beautiful view from the top of the mountain every morning I walk towards the edge and throw little things off like: car parts, bottles and cutlery or whatever I find lying around it's become a habit a way to start the day i go through all this - before you wake up so I can feel happier - to be safe up here with you it's early morning no one is awake i'm back at my cliff still throwing things off i listen to the sounds they make on their way down i follow with my eyes 'til they crash imagine what my body would sound like slamming against those rocks when it lands will my eyes be closed or open? i go through all this - before you wake up so I can feel happier - to be safe up here with you She's so yummers.

That's interesting. I'll remember that. I'm only 19 at the moment, so I can't really look back and see whether it rings true. Thanks Phrank! |
