I voted Firefox. It's faster, more secure and if U want 2 view many web sites at once you don't have to open loads of windows; so it saves up memory too. Edit: I tried to emphasise Firefox by adding bold tags to it, and it didn't work! |

Oh, if I'd realised I wouldn't have started this poll. Is it true that a browser had 4000 security weaknesses?! (check the link on the last post). I wonder how many IE has. |

these polls are terribly biased and therefore are flawed. since most people here are pro firefox, anyone who actully enjoys using IE or an IE port like phaseout or maxthon are ridiculed and seen as opposition to all who follow with blind chouvenism behind Firefox. therefore since no quality IE ports were mentioned i refuse to place my vote. i only posted to say DONT talk bad against others who dont use FF. it is there preference not yours. we know FF is safer and yadda yadda yadda. just dont force your browser upon us all like them religious folk and Jesus. |

4000? I don't think it's called a browser if it has 4000 issues, it's more likely to be called a "a school computer-science project"  But I have no idea, I think IE has the most problems. IE isn't neccessarily that bad a browser, I think it's just that more people try to attack it since its the MAIN browser. If IE wasn't so insecure no one would care that much about tab-browsing. Firefox is more secure though. When it becomes the main browser and replaces IE I think we'll here more about it's insecurities. and if you want to know the biggest problem I have with Firefox (i think its actually a security issue with IE, but nevertheless..) ..if you ever UPLOAD an HTML file as an attachment in a forum and you look at it in IE it works perfectly, but if you look at it in Firefox, you only see the source code HTML. |

IE ports only use the core Trident engine that IE uses. most IE ports have edited the engine entirely to patch security flaws. Avant, Maxthon, Slimbrowser are all very good examples of this. and they add gobs of customization and user tools for everything imaginable. dont dis all IE ports until u have used them and see how much better they are compared to IE. and pretty much ALL IE pots utilize tabbed browsing |

I wasn't being biased. <_< Although I prefer FF, I'm not saying bad things about IE users, just expressing my opinion. I'm not some idiot who tries to force things on people! Edit: I've heard from some people that Netscape is good, so it isn't really biased. |

Well I wasn't really putting IE down. I was stating the truth, it has more problems because it's more popular. But if you really want to get into it. Avant and Maxthon They're still IE in disguise. Unlike any of these so called "browsers", Firefox comes only with what you actually need, and therefore isn't sluggish/insecure thanks to "extra" features (bloatware). Also, Avant and Maxthon still share IE's vulnerabilities. That alone is enough reason NOT to use either of those two browsers (also includes SlimBrowser, another IE shell). I like the Safe Recovery, and the Skin Factory, but Mozilla Firefox has the better of the others. And you can code for Gecko. for better skins. and extensions. Firefox has a built in popup stopper, and you can get AdBlock for an extension[which avant browser does not have!] and block the ads permanently until you unblock them. You can overlay flash. Mouse gestures? What do you need those for when you have extensions that can do MORE! Real full screen mode: get an extension to put it in. Built in Yahoo/Google search: Firefox: Google, Yahoo!, Amazon.com, Creative Commons, Dictionary.com, eBay, Webster, Wikipedia, and you can download more. And it's not that hard to just click on "images". Full IE Compatibility: so does Firefox. Also imports favorites, and settings, and etc. Records Cleaner: Firefox too. Safe Recovery: So what? Close all the windows, and you get a warning [unless if you turn off, on by default.] It won't lag your computer just to leave Firefox there. |

slimbrowser has a rather robust popup, ad and spyware/adware blocker. it allows the use of mouse gestures who in their right mind would need full screen mode anyways? but yes it has that too. Slimbrowser has access to all links like wikipedia, and dictionary.com and such, as well as has built in search bar for google and askjeeves Slimbrowser has a record cleaner that gets rid of everything and alot of other cool tools. i cant go into it now seeing as im at work

Avant has pretty much all of that stuff too.  And I use fullscreen mode a lot. But then again, I'm not what most would call "In my right mind", so maybe I'm not a good example. Anyway, every browser I've ever used sucks, including Firefox. |

Since Avant is not a true browser, just a shell for IE, it inherits all of IE security holes. That goes for most shells, they do attempt to patch some up though. As for Slimbrowser, it's Tabbed Browsing is it's worse enemy! For example: Inactive tabs can gain focus from form fields on web sites in another tab. i knew this would happen....cant you just leave people who dont use FF alone? i swear the FF users are somehow gonna form into some sort of terrible cult or the Fourth Reich trying to rid the world of inferior surrfers not following under the FF banner. |

For sites I think are safe, I use IE. Sorry, beat me with a stick, but I like IE better than firefox in some cases. I don't need to worry about security holes on regular sites I go to, lilke IF, my own website, gamefaqs etc I'm not worried about being infected with anything from there. When browsing sites I don't know whats on them, I pick firefox. Other than that I am not a huge firefox fan. I still like the look of IE better, and the way it can still show poorly coded webpages nicely. |
