To kill two birds with one stone: http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,120399,00.asp My dad has had his entire computer screwed over countless times and several programs and their settings screwed up or rendered useless by allowing things to be done automatically. If updates for Windows or any other software are available, you should find out what those updates are all about as best you can, then decide if you wish to install them or not, rather than having it all done automatically, or just manually doing it without question whenever updates come out. |

SP2 is actually quite good witha clean install of it. also linux can suck it. i dont care how good it is. XP64 ona hyperthreaded AMD multicore is gonna own! |

Stop using Windows XP. It's visual look will slow your PC down like heck (unless you disable it) and it has the worst security features, EVER. Even Mac OSX is better. Windows 2000 Professional is the best. Much more stable than WinXP because Win2K runs off of the WinNT Core, and WinNT is the most stable OS EVER. Sure, some say taht WinXP & Win2K have the same core, but they don't. The underlying concepts in the design of both is very different. Oh & misleading by microsoft, SP2 is actually more unstable than SP1. Windows XP itself is the SUCK. |

Windows XP is not the suck. Its not the best, but it ain't the suck. The suck is ME. The visual set up slows it down only if you are running at the minimum reccommended hardware. And even then its hardly noticable. You basicly said that loading a different color takes more time. Win2k is good, but not good for the average user. Its ment for business use mostly. XP has its faults, but currently is the best windows for the average user that is looking to use more advanced features. Such as home networking. Available in other verisions, XP is the best for the computer idiot to set up. |

dont make fun of ME. if it is setup right and installed properly, its speed and prowess can overtake any xp system. its all about love and tenderness with ME. if u love it, it loves you. you can slim it to 2-3 processes and rock out any game out there with top framerates. if used and installed properly its stabler than alot of other OS's i used it for a long time and my old comp can STILL smoke the competition. dont make fun of something that you have no idea what your talking about. and if you say u have used it before, then its user error. thats right....way to suck at using a computer

I currently have 4 laptops, and two desktops running ME. I've been running it snice it came out. Its sopposed to be stable for the average user; in other words, someone that doesn't know how to kill processes, or to care properly for an operating system. I can get it to run fine, but it still takes to much work to get it to run as it should, and that doesn't get it good marks in my books. Overtake any XP system? REally. So you're saying that my ME laptop, with its 800mHz processor can overtake my 3gHz XP desktop. I don't think so. Overall, ME still sucks. Do not assume that someone doesn't know what they are talking about becuase you disagree with them. My family is a computer family, and I don't mean a "surfing the net Family." I know quite a bit about computers and don't need to be told that I don't know what I am talking about, snice its not true. |
