Do you think this is fair?? Someone from another sw site came over to my site SOLEY to advertsie...ive made my advertsing forum a mod que so can review the sites before they get posted.... he foyund that out and posted the advert in the feedback forum. Im getting REALLY angry at people who keep doing this..do you think this is fair? :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: :angry: |

basically he only joinerd to advertise...his one and only post was to do exactly that..and he wasnt even an admin of the site he was advertising! |

I just make it so that you have to have at least 30 posts to advertise. After they post 30 times, you can see if they really are trying to be a good member or just advertise. I do this by checking over their posts and seeing if they're spamming or not. Even if they do get 30 and then just leave, I simply send a few PMs and then if no response comes, I move their advertising topic to the trash. |

I have...if he comes again or they send another then im gonna ban them and IP ban them.....disrespect for the rules Ive set...plus it would get very annoying if they sent more ppl |

lol same here....i get into this really evil mood. You should have seen what I did to the last troublemaker we ran into. He signed up and posted that our site was a waste of space. I posted once being really nice saying that we were all friends and that I hoped he would be our friend too. After he replied saying that it was still a waste of space, I banned him, his IP, his email, his name, sent messages to all my affiliates warning them (he actually joined up to one of the affilates and the admin on that site banned him immediately),and deleted his thread. It was fun, I was in a good mood all the rest of the day. |

Set "Admin Validation" on. Make a post on their forum saying to stop coming over to your forum @ABeakyboy: I do not even reply to topics like that, I just go and ban them right away |

In my opinion, banning should be last resort. Banning looks kindof bad for your forum, people may think you're too strict, the rules are unfair, you don't enforce the rules properly or anything. I think you should try warnings, mod queues, post diabling, and maybe suspensions first. And deleting a user IMO should only be done if it's absolutely nessecary. Meaning, if the user is under 13, if you need to make room for another account etc. That's my opinion anyway, if this person is causing you trouble, just try PMing the user or whatever first, then move onto things like mod queues and suspensions. You don't want to turn away loads of members by banning them if they make one wrong move IMO |

very true matthew....sometimes tho, people join and the first post they make is very mean, verbally attacking your site, members and friends. In that case, I believe IMMEDIATE ban is what you should do, cuz if they joined the site when they dont like it, they only joined to make trouble. edit: To inuyasha_3: Im a nice person, so I give really nasty people 1 chance to reform. After all, they may have just had a bad day. |

there are some cases that banning is the only solution.. i had this ****** who tried to crack my board.. so i immediatly IP, E-Mail, & account banned him, set his warn level to 100%, & suspended him for 999999999999 days heh heh |

I still do what Matthew says, but there are certian things that get on my nerves when they are posted. I also ban members when I know that they are just coming to give me trouble. Those are the worst, they won't leave me alone. |
